While digging into templating and styling of Silverlight 2 Beta 2 controls, I came into a situation where the event for MouseLeftButtonDown was not triggered when I click on the control. I created a sample project and in the Page.xaml I added the following:

    <StackPanel Orientation="Vertical"
    MouseLeftButtonDown="StackPanel_MouseLeftButtonDown">
    <
    TextBlock Text="Antonio Moreno" Height="22" FontSize="16" />
    <
    Grid>
    <
    Grid.ColumnDefinitions>
    <
    ColumnDefinition />
    <
    ColumnDefinition />
    </
    Grid.ColumnDefinitions>

    <
    TextBlock Text="AMoreno@hotmail.com" Grid.Column="0"/>
    <
    TextBlock Text="(5) 555-3932" Grid.Column="1"/>
    </
    Grid>
    </
    StackPanel>

As you can see from the xaml, I have a StackPanel and an event handler for MouseLeftButtonDown event.

On June 13, 2008 in the Microsoft Reston Technology Center, join AIS, Cynergy and Microsoft for the first Silverlight TechFest. This is a full day event focusing on Silverlight and Expression. We'll build a full application showing key parts of the process both on the UI side with the designer/developer relationship, and on the back end with WCF services and and business logic. I'll be doing the afternoon session on Silverlight and WCF.

    Here's the official blurb:

Microsoft TechFest – Building Rich Interactive Web Applications with Silverlight and Expression

You are cordially invited to join us in a full-day event for developers and designers.

I have been fairly quiet for the last few months, and one of the reasons is that I have been working on a Silverlight 2 application, showcasing some future thinking for rich UI in the healthcare space.

The Microsoft Health Common User Interface: Patient Journey Demonstrator is the result of work from a very small team based here in the UK, and we think, is a great example of a Rich Internet Application demonstrating an LOB scenario, but using the power of Silverlight to provide beautiful, meaningful ways of representing incredibly complex data.

If you're in the Phoenix Area, please join us at Interface Technical Training in downtown Phoenix for our next regularly scheduled Phoenix Silerlight User's Group Meeting on Wednesday May 7 from 6pm to 8pm.

Our meetings follow the pattern of a short presentation followed by a break which is then followed by two sets of Open Space discussions.

Anyone can sign up for an Open Space and these can be anything from "How do I ..." to "Help me finish..." or "Look what I did"

There are plenty of experienced people in the group to fill in spots as needed, so don't avoid the meeting thinking you'll be expected to do show-and-tell :)

Come get your questions answered and your engines revved to catch the Silverlight!

Exactly 1 year after the release at Mix 07, Microsoft releases Expression Studio 2. The suite of tools for professional designers includes Expression Web, Expression Blend, Expression Design, Expression Media and Expression Encoder.
It also works seamlessly with Visual Studio 2005 and Visual Studio 2008, solving the age-old designer and developer workflow challenge.

Here are the most important changes that made it into this release of the Expression Suite:

    • Expression Web 2 adds support for PHP and Adobe Photoshop import based on customer feedback.

Last year the Microsoft Expression team shipped a new suite of tools for creative professionals. This first release of Expression Studio marked a significant milestone in the history of development tools at Microsoft, delivering superior designer-developer workflow and providing designers a set of interaction design, graphic design, Web design, digital asset management and video production tools to deliver better user experiences on Windows and the Web.

I am pleased to announce, just one year later, the team has done it again with today’s release of Microsoft Expression Studio 2.

Silverlight Streaming is a free service that Microsoft offers to the public. With the service users receive 10 GB free space that they can use to host video contents. Unlike the service provided by youtube.com, Silverlight Streaming does not add Microsoft logo or attach any commercial information to your video contents, and your contents can only be made available/visible to the public in your web applications. This service is great for individual users and developers, or even small businesses.
