When developing frontend applications, especially on a platform like Silverlight and Windows Phone you will always need to load resources, whether from remote or local locations, you need to deal with URIs.

On Windows Phone there are a few rules regarding the usage of URIs to load resources, which might be difficult to remember. In particular, remembering when to use the leading forward slash.

In this short article, I will talk about PerformanceProgressBar which is part of Silverlight Windows Phone toolkit.

When we don't know how much time any such action is going to take like when we call web service we are not sure how much time it is going to take, in such case we use indeterminate progress bar.

There is already PrgoressBar available with the Windows Phone tool but there is performance issue, it runs on UI thread and sucks the CPU time. The worst is even though it is not visible it continues to suck the CPU.

In my endeavor to learn the best aspects of Windows Phone 7 development I have been looking out for resources ever since I started developing one. In this post I would like to point you all to an excellent post one of my favorite technical blogger Scot Hanselman. Scot is a principal program manager at Microsoft and works for the Web Department. He recently wrote a blog post titled – From Concept to Code in 6 hours: Shipping my first Windows Phone App. An excellent article in which he outlines his experience of developing an windows phone 7 mango app. This article has a load of goodies laid out all over the article. I will try to collate them as a bullet point and just keep it short. Head over to Scot’s blog post to read it completely. So if you just needed a bullet list for all the resources read on. :)

More and more Web sites are outsourcing the process of authenticating a user to a third-party Web site such as Windows Live ID, Yahoo!, Google or Facebook. These social media sites fulfill the role of an identity provider and grant the requestor with a signed token, a key that proves the user is who he says he is.

LightSwitch shipped with three possible authentication modes: None, Windows credentials and Forms authentication. With LightSwitch, choosing an authentication mode is as easy as selecting one from the application’s properties. LightSwitch then sets up the database and guides the user through the selected login process without any additional effort from the developer. The authentication is fast and convenient—but in no supported or obvious way open for extensibility.

Telerik introduces a new component called “RadDiagnostics” in their Q1.2012 release. RadDiagnostics component enables an application developer to receive crash reports and other debugging information from the end user of the application.

As a WP7Dev, you may want to include a functionality in your application which will mail you the stack trace and other debugging information. This post will guide you to implement the same functionality in your Windows Phone app using the Telerik controls.

I've been wanting to incorporate usage tracking into my latest Windows Phone app, but it seemed like it would be a lot of work, so I had mentally slated this feature for a future release. After a few minutes of Googling with DuckDuckGo, I stumbled across Localytics, and 10 minutes later I was looking at live data from my app.
