@codeblock. I second that. I'd rather see things postponed in sake of true cross-platform support. I do understand that SL team is eagerly working on Apple script issues, but releasing COM Interop-only may give a wrong signal of their mindshare.

ScottGu during the PDC session showed a great usage of the webcam support in reading a barcode from a book.

I'm not a fan of COM Interop because it is windows-only. I understand the potential of them in some scenario but I hope the team will add some support to api in cross-platform manner.

Still not sure why we *need* webcam support (it's not so well used in Flash), but the elevated trust is potentially *very*very* usefull : I assume the developer could, with InteropServices, do really fast bitmap manipulations? Or, guessing now, controll USB devices using a COM API?

Silverlight to replace ASP.NET Webform? Maybe. It makes perfect sense to use Silverlight in scenarios where ASP.NET Webform is used most today (e.g. LOB apps).

Silverlight to replace ASP.NET MVC? Not really. They may go head to head in some scenarios, but I don't see one replacing another.

One thing for sure though, Silverlight is becoming THE UI framework for .NET developers, and that's not a bad thing.
